This week we’re throwin’ it back to a taping from not too long ago that was so nice we’ve played it way more than twice here at the eTown offices!
Boston-based quartet Lake Street Dive have been making some serious waves since releasing their debut album back in 2003 with their dynamic mix of alt-pop, rock, jazz and R&B. Needles to say they put on one of our favorite performances in recent memory and had the eTown audience up on their feet!
Also on this show was Americana/blues singer and songwriter Eilen Jewell. The Los Angeles Daily News wrote, “Sometimes as darkly damaged as Lucinda Williams, at others as defiant and teasing as prime Peggy Lee and always authentically Americana in the Gillian Welch tradition…. She’s mighty good.” Great music and conversation, plus an incredible eChievement Award winner raising money for children’s hospitals in an unconventional way.
AND you have to check out the finale where Lake Street Dive and Eilen come together with the eTones to put their own spin on the Beatles’ classic “Don’t Let Me Down”.
Watch videos & stream the show below. Enjoy!
