It certainly is fun digging back into our Archives here at eTown. Today we revisit a lively taping from August of 2005 featuring Colorado’s own, String Cheese Incident.
Touring in support of their brand new album (at the time) One Step Closer, SCI brought their unique blend of bluegrass, salsa, afro-pop, rock and jazz to the eTown stage for the 2nd time (1st visit was in 2001)! Always innovative and always pushing the envelope musically, String Cheese never leaves you wanting for entertainment. They certainly had the eTown audience up and dancing all throughout their set and we’re sure that you will be too upon hearing this recording!
Also, sharing the stage with SCI during this show was Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro, who has truly revolutionized the way people view the ukulele. With a style that is a complete departure from traditional playing, Shimbukuro melds classical guitar technique with unique arrangements that expand the limits of the instrument’s repertoire. 10 years later, Jake continues to tour nationally, drawing massive crowds in every city that he visits.
