Hi! Helen here.
Hey trivia question: Did you know eTown is a nonprofit organization?
Here at eTown we work hard everyday to further our mission (“to educate, entertain and inspire a diverse audience through music and conversation to create a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable world”). Folks often ask us how they can help further the cause. Well, here’s a simple way you can do that, if you so choose.
Part of our mission involves reaching an ever-widening audience. We’re currently working towards partnering with Google & YouTube which will help us to do that very thing. But we need to reach the 10,000 ‘Subscribers’ mark on our YouTube channel before that can happen. We’re getting close, but we’re not there yet. That’s where you come in.
If you want to stay up to date with everything eTown and, at the same time, help us fulfill our mission, click HERE to subscribe to our channel, which features videos from all of our eTown shows over the past two years as well as throwback videos, curated playlists and exclusive eTown content that you can’t find anywhere else. (You can check out our channel first, to see if its something that appeals to you, at https://www.youtube.com/user/etownradioshow).
Thanks in advance for your help!
And here’s the scoop on this week’s show:
Nick and I welcome two first-time visitors this week. Singer/songwriter Ryan Bingham (you may recognize his name, he won a Grammy for his work doing the soundtrack of the movie Crazy Heart a few years ago) is with us. He’s just an incredible performer and songwriter. You’d think maybe he’d have ‘gone all Hollywood’ on us, what with all the attention that’s been lavished on him (and with good reason) but absolutely not, he remains one of the sweetest and most down-to-earth guys on the planet. And talented? No doubt.
Also joining us is Nashville-based country singer Nikki Lane. She’s a total pistol, that girl! Feisty. Flirtatious. Outrageous. Beautiful. Dresses in uber-vintage style. And wildly talented. You’ll love her. (I loved singing with her; she’s so supportive of harmony singers, I absolutely adore her).
This show is an especially great one, with awesome live music, up-close and personal interviews (Oh that Nick! He continues to be both band-leader extraordinaire and brilliant interviewer) and a beautiful eChievement Award story about a couple collecting and distributing food to offset weekend hunger for kids in their community – this week in eTown!
